The Challenge

Millions of neurodivergent children struggle with traditional learning environments that are designed for the average learner. Children with Autism and ADHD often experience sensory overload, communication barriers, and difficulty maintaining attention, making everyday learning frustrating for both students and educators.

Children

Difficulty maintaining focus, sensory overload, communication challenges, and inconsistent learning engagement.

Limited visibility into learning progress, emotional stress, and lack of personalized educational support.

Need adaptable teaching methods, real-time insights, and inclusive tools for children with diverse learning needs.

The Real Question

Instead of asking how children can adapt to education, we asked how education could adapt to every child.

FIELD RESEARCH

Research Beyond the Screen

Before defining solutions, I stepped into the real world. I visited a neurodivergent school to observe children, meet educators, and understand the everyday realities that would shape every design decision.

Why I Chose Field Research

Inclusive products cannot be designed from assumptions alone. I wanted to experience the children's world firsthand, not simply collect data, but understand emotions, behaviors, and everyday realities that statistics can never reveal.

Immersed myself in the children's learning environment instead of relying only on secondary research.

🤝 Connect

Meaningful conversations with teachers, parents, and children revealed emotional and behavioral insights impossible to discover remotely.

💡 Transform

The visit fundamentally changed my design thinking. The goal shifted from solving usability problems to creating experiences that respect dignity, confidence, and inclusion.

This research transformed the entire direction of MAVI Playboard. Every UX decision, from interaction design to sensory-friendly experiences, was grounded in real human observations rather than assumptions.

HOW RESEARCH SHAPED THE PRODUCT

From Real Observations to Product Decisions

Every design decision in MAVI Playboard was rooted in real-world observations rather than assumptions. Field research uncovered patterns that directly influenced the product strategy, interaction design, and inclusive learning experience.

Children became overwhelmed by busy interfaces and too many visual elements.

Designed calm, distraction-free experiences with one task at a time.

Every child learned differently and progressed at a unique pace.

Introduced adaptive learning paths and personalized experiences.

Parents struggled to understand their child's daily learning progress.

Recommended a simple parent dashboard with meaningful progress tracking.

Teachers required flexible activities for children with different abilities.

Instead of designing for neurodivergent children based on assumptions, every major product decision was grounded in real observations, conversations, and lived experiences collected during field research.

MAVI Playboard was built through a collaborative multidisciplinary team.

This case study focuses specifically on the areas where I personally contributed while working closely with the team throughout the product journey.

TRANSPARENCY

Detailed UI design, prototyping, and implementation were completed collaboratively with the multidisciplinary product team.
